Since the Center’s inception, it has sponsored material culture symposia and colloquia. These include the annual Emerging Scholars Symposium, colloquia, and special topics symposia. The Emerging Scholars Symposia covers a different theme every year, and brings in some of the brightest young material culture scholars from around the world. Colloquia are often linked to material culture courses that the Center sponsors. Finally, the Center regularly organizes special topics symposia that explore cutting edge material culture ideas.
