“China Girls and Film Materiality: A Workshop with Genevieve Yue”, September 2016

Media Old and New Working Group Meeting

Title: “China Girls and Film Materiality: A Workshop with Genevieve Yue”

When: Wednesday, September 14, 2016 / 5:30PM

Where: Memorial Hall Room 107

The Media Old and New working group is pleased to announce that Dr. Genevieve Yue, Assistant Professor of Culture and Media at Eugene Lang College at The New School will be their guest at the first meeting of Fall 2016. This meeting is open to the public.

Dr. Yue will give a brief talk about her current book project on gender and film materiality, and go a bit more in depth into the research she’s done on “China Girl” reference images in film laboratories. This session is not meant to be a formal event, rather a sort of workshop where Dr. Yue will present her work and participate in a conversation with the group about our interests and goals. Dr. Yue is affiliated with Re/Lab, a group at The New School that’s working on sourcing and re-purposing outmoded equipment. You can see some of their work here.
