The Center for Material Culture Studies is pleased to offer subvention support on a competitive basis for University of Delaware faculty publishing original research with significant material culture content. Funds may be used only for current or upcoming expenses directly related to publication, such as image preparation, permissions, indexing, etc. Specific funding amounts will vary depending upon subvention needs and availability of funds, with a cap of $1,000 per award. A maximum of four awards are available. Preference will be given to junior faculty publishing their first monograph, and to other faculty who have not yet benefited from this program.
The deadlines for applications are November 1 and March 15 of the current academic year. We will accept applications beginning one month before the deadline. To apply, prepare a two-page statement concerning the publication and its significance to the field and its relevance to material culture studies; a brief note regarding the venue and the status of the publication; a budget with supporting materials from your Press and vendors detailing the material costs of your project; and a one-page CV.
Please send application materials to materialculture@udel.edu with “Faculty Research Publication Subvention Fund” in the subject field. In accepting a grant the awardee allows CMCS to use any original materials they submit (such as a report and images) for promotional purposes, which could include posting to the website.
